Welcome to Chickadee Aviation’s Private Pilot’s Certificate Training Program. Our school is located at the Auburn Lewiston Municipal Airport where we will match you with one of our Certified Flight Instructors (CFI) who will guide you through the entire process.

Training starts with a combination of ground and flight instruction. Everything thing you study while on the ground will help you be a better pilot in the air! After working through material with your CFI and some studying on your own, you will be able to take the written exam for the FAA’s private pilot certificate. This exam covers material such as aircraft systems, aerodynamics, and regulations.

The next phase is where you will work with your instructor towards completing your first solo. This is one of the most important aspects of flight training, as you begin to trust yourself and your abilities as a pilot. During this phase, you will be working through all of the aeronautical requirements for the checkride.

The final step is to take the FAA’s practical test, also known as the checkride. This consists of an oral board, followed by a flight examination with Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE).
